DENISE RENE’ SAND 61

Rockford, Illinois

Denise Rene’ McLendon-Sand;  61; Passed August 7, 2017 after a long illness;  Born February 28, 1956 to Victor and Leona (Anderson) Dietmeier in Monroe, WI.  Raised in Rockford, IL attending Rockford Schools.  She was a proud E-Rab and Green Bay Packer Fan. Attended The University of Arizona. She returned to Rockford and married John McLendon in 1982.  John passed away in 2002.  Denise married Craig R. Sand in on December 13, 2014, a date she pick so it would be easy to remember their anniversary. Their short time together was filled with much love and happiness. She worked many years at the family business, Valley Furnace then as business manager of Tebala Shrine for the past 20 years. She loved talking to people and helping them as much as she possibly could. She always wore a huge smile which was absolutely infectious. Denise loved life and lived it her way. Denise was a Member and Past Worthy Matron of Rockford Chapter Order of the Star; Member and Past Queen of Alabet Temple No. 31, Daughters of the Nile. Predeceased by her father, Victor and first husband, John. Survivors include her mother, Leona Garthwaite; husband Craig R. Sand; daughter, Ashley McLendon; Sister, Marcia (Michael) Adrian; brother, Tim (Lori Buesing) Dietmeier; niece, Kelly (Ryan) Shapiro and nephew, Eric (Karen) Adrian). The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staffs of OSF St Anthony Medical Center-Critical Care Center; Kindred Hospital of Sycamore and Kishwaukee Hospital ICU.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held at the Tebala Event Center, 7910 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL. on Monday, August 14, 2017,  from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Daughters of the Nile Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service with Rev. Les McCelland, officiating.  A luncheon will follow services.

 Memorials in her memory may be made to the family or to Shriners Hospitals for Children- Chicago.
