Lorna May Johnson, 94

Rockford, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2017. Born March 6, 1923 in Stromsburg, NE. She is survived by sons Greg (Hazel), Rob and Tom (Pam); grandchildren, Becky (Jake) Borkhus, Talie Johnson, Sara Wollin and Matt (Kim) Wollin; five great grandchildren, Caleb Borkhus, Braden, Emma, Hunter & Regan Wollin; sister Nancy (Calvin) Fernlund; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Phillip A. Johnson; parents Edwin & Elvera Swanson; brother Maynard; sisters Constance Floor, Sylvia (Del) Gottfred,

Lorna left her family farm in Stromsburg, NE after high school to attend Bethel College in Minnesota. While there, her father sold the farm and they moved to Rockford, IL. After college she joined her family at their new home. It was just a few years later that she met her loving husband Phil.

Together they raised their 3 sons in Rockford and spent many summers at their family vacation home in northern WI. Lorna and Phil continued with many trips to the Northwoods and Lorna enjoyed the peaceful lake setting where she could read her Bible and take walks.

Besides being a wonderful mother, she was an incredible grandma. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy and they loved her very much.

Lorna loved tending to her beautiful flower gardens and baking her famous Molasses Crinkle cookies. She spent many hours in the kitchen and shared her love of baking with her grandchildren. She was always very involved in her church as a Sunday school teacher, pianist, organist and in the choir. She also taught piano lessons in her home.

Lorna brightened the world for many people. She cared deeply for her family and she touched everyone she knew with her love, patience and kindness. She had great faith and loved to spread God's love and give encouragement to everyone she came in touch with. She was a true reflection of Jesus in everything she did.

In her last years, her sons Greg, Rob & Tom did everything they could to help care for her and Rob was by her side when she passed away.
