“Rockin Ronnie” Ronald A. Martinson woke up in Heaven Friday, February 18, 2022.
Born in Rockford July 24, 1958 to Robert (Rock) and Viola (Vi) Martinson, Ronnie loved his family and friends with all his heart! While growing up in Rockford he enjoyed playing softball for KenRock, the Cardinals travel baseball Team and winning State championship. Ronnie had fun and worked hard as a Jefferson J-Hawk football team member. After graduating from Jefferson High School, Ron served in the U.S. Army 2 years. Ronnie was employed by UIC, Rockford until retiring to care for his father Robert Martinson. Ronnie then enjoyed a career in cellular phone sales. Despite his own physical challenges Ronnie provided homes and meals to others. He loved his precious pets; Smokey, Bandit, Midnight and Buddy. Ronnie believed all of Gods creatures mattered and his life reflected his beliefs. His Giant heart was larger than his income…. yet no one in need was turned away. Ronnie loved holidays and cookouts with others.
Ronald is survived by his sister Robbie (Roberta) Grove; nephews Ryan (Lindsey) Grove, Tim (Shirley Hedlund) Creagan, Tom (Sheila) Griser, Kerry Johnson, Donald Kurth; nieces Tammy (Mike) Crawshaw, Tracey Griser, Joan Johnson, Donna Johnson, Christine (Greg) Loos; and several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles in Washington state.
Predeceased by parents Robert and Viola Martinson, Sisters; Sandra Wheeler, Elmira Johnson, and Carol Johnson, Brothers; Jerry (Rosie) Johnson, Duane (Janet) Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Glen (Maize) Johnson and Robert Kurth beloved nephew.
