Keith Leroy Carr 1932-2018

Keith Leroy Carr (86), of Rockford, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital.

Keith was born on August 9th, 1932 in Valley, Wisconsin to the late William and Leelah Carr. In 1950, Keith graduated from Hillsboro High School. Shortly after, he moved to Rockford where he began working at Ingersoll Milling Machine. In 1952, Keith was drafted into the Korean War where he served in the Army for two years. Upon returning, Keith married Priscilla Anschutz on June 18th, 1955. Keith worked as an Accountant for Barber Coleman for 30 years before he retired at the age of 60. Throughout his life, Keith was an active member of the Shriners and the Tebala Air Squadron, member of Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge #173.. He also served on the board of the Barber-Coleman Credit Union and the Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery Association. In his free time, Keith enjoyed playing RIAA fast pitch softball, umpiring in both ASA and USSSA softball leagues, traveling the world with his wife Priscilla, spending time with his four grandchildren, and supporting his favorite team the Green Bay Packers.

Keith is survived by his wife of 63 years Priscilla (née Anschutz) Carr, a son, Jeffrey (Kathryn) Carr of Rockford, Illinois, a daughter, Becky (Mike) Emery of Sherman, Illinois, and his sister, Doris Calhoun of Onalaska, Wisconsin. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren: Jordan Carr, Lauren Carr, Ryan Emery, Chad Emery, and many nieces and nephews.

Keith is predeceased by his parents and brothers Buford, Mack, Larry and Kenneth.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home (6825 Weaver Road Rockford, Illinois 61114).

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 2nd, 2018 at Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home (6825 Weaver Road Rockford, Illinois 61114). The ceremony will be officiated by Rev. Deanna Mede of Christ United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home Ltd.

Memorials may be given in Keith Carr’s name to the Chicago Shriner Hospitals for Children c/o Tebala Shrine Center, 7910 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL. 61108.
