March 23, 1958 ~ September 21, 2020 (age 62)

Obituary

David Boothe, age 62 of Roscoe, passed away Monday September 21, 2020 after a brief illness.  Born March 23, 1958 in Rockford, Illinois, to James W. & S. Catherine Boothe.

He attended Haskell Elementary School where he was actively involved in Boy Scouts, Roosevelt Junior High School and graduated from West High School in 1976.  After graduation he joined the Army National Guard where he pursued medical training.  He spent the next decade in Tucson, Arizona, prior to returning to the Rockford area where he worked for many years as a surgical technician at Rockford Memorial Hospital (Mercy).  He went on to own his own irrigation business, River Valley Irrigation.

David was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rockford, IL.

David enjoyed cooking and experimenting with recipes.  He would routinely share his creations and always brought his 15-bean soup to family gatherings.

He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on his teams, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

While living in Arizona he enjoyed many outdoor activities including sailing, 4-wheeling, camping, snow skiing and boating.  He spent many years vacationing in Northwest Wisconsin with his sister Noel’s family.  He treasured the time he spent there at the cabin and loved to fish.

He was a friend to everyone he met and had deep appreciation for friendships, both old and new.  David was a storyteller and never at a loss for words.  He enjoyed simple things such as sharing a drink and conversation with friends and strangers alike at a local pub and taking road trips in the classic, white convertible he had been restoring.  He loved spending time with his West Warrior Friends.

David cherished his Irish heritage and kept in contact with his relatives in Ireland.
