Donald R. Arnquist 93
Rockford, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2019 in Rosewood Care Center, 14 days following his wife’s passing. Born on April 15, 1926 in Rockford to Gust and Hedvig (Bergstrom) Arnquist. He married Edna Lundahl on November 27, 1947.
Don Served in the U.S. Army during WWII, he was Assistant Manager of Yahr Lang Wholesale Drugs for 41 years, retiring in 1987. He was an avid White Sox’s Fan, a stamp collector belonging to the Rockford Stamp Club, and as longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church, he sang in the Chancel Choir and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include his son, William (Joyce) Arnquist; daughter Bonnie (Bob) Ecklund; grandchildren, Sara (Carl) Burgardt, Jane (Mike) Weber, J. J. Tavernier, Eric (Jenn) Arnquist, Charles (Jamie) Tavernier, Zane (Ruby) Ecklund, Baylie (Matt) McWhirter; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Weber; numerous nieces & nephews; predeceased by his parents; wife, Edna, (10/24/2019); daughter, Nancy (Stephen) Tavernier; brother, Perry.
Memorial visitation 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020 followed by memorial services at 12:00 noon in Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 South Sixth Street.
