Hazel L. Weber 91
Rockford, Passed away peacefully at 3:00 a.m., at Alden Debes Nursing Center on March 13, 2020. She was born on December 27, 1928 in Milledgeville, IL, daughter of George H. & Mary L. (Thomas) Williams. Hazel graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Lanark High School in 1946. On August 16, 1947, she married Robert H. Weber in Clinton, IA.
For 40 years , Hazel was employed by the Mahoney Law Firm in Freeport, IL She retired in 2008. She was an avid bicyclist and a member of the Blackhawk Bicycle and Ski Club from 1979 to the present. At the age of 65, she rode her bicycle from the state of Washington to the State of Maine with a group who eventually called themselves “The Old Spokes” and they have had annual rides together since then. Hazel earned a 100,000 mile plaque for riding 5,000 miles a year for 20 years. Also, she participated in the Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Race twice and placed fourth in her age group.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Weber (decorated WWll veteran) and her five brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her children, Dr. Michael R. (Karen) Weber of Grafton, WI. ; John R. Weber of Freeport, IL; Paul E. (Patricia) Weber of South Beloit, IL.; grandchildren, Kara (William) Seiler, Marci (Mathew) Gehrke, Ann (Robb) Thompson, Bryan Weber, Stacey Kukor; great grandchildren, Payton, Landon and Calista Seiler; Audrey and Myla Thompson; Samantha and Natalie Gehrke; Elizabeth Weber and Olivia Kukor.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date, due to the current crisis related to the Covid-19 virus.
